My work functions as a metaphor for living in relationship, but also as a reflection on our contemporary social and economic moment. How does one intimately and collectively, get used to living in the in-between, liminal spaces of already begun but not yet finished projects? I am engaged in a dialogue on the cultural habit of marking transitional events. I am drawn to images (flags, festoons, tents, fences, bouquets) that one associates marking temporary site or fleeting action (grand opening, construction). The work is an inquiry into how quotidian images, outside of their original context, can explore personal and collective circumstance. I often work in series because the use of repetition, as opposed to undermining individuality, heightens difference and variation. The more things close down- the more they open up- the Deluzian notion of repetition as becoming. Present connects part to future, like a chain link fence or row of orange cones.

Ms.Giudici Wallis, also an artist, contacted me regarding my work. We had a great conversation on similar interests in our studio practices. I'm really happy for this work to live with a like-mind.
