I am thrilled I got to adopt this painting.
I loved it the moment I saw it on the site, for it's exquisite play with balance - all the more powerful in person, in the room. Somehow it has a palpable energetic effect on me.
There was one thing puzzling: As “Head” appears on the site, the artist's signature is sideways. I inquired with the artist who told me he had originally intended it to be oriented the other way but later prefered it rotated.
He generously left it to me to choose the orientation - not an easy choice since “Head’s” effect (on my head) is staggeringly different each way. In portrait orientation, it's perfect balance has a marvelously soothing effect. In landscape orientation, it has an rousing effect - exhilarating, not soothing. I couldn’t decide! So I am having the framer put hanging wire in both directions.
There is another way in which this painting is a chamelion. It seems to belong on every wall I put it. It might become a rotating artwork in more ways than one.
Eternal thanks to the artist and this site.
