verticle shape with green and pink

The artist, Joan Mellon, writes:

I was introduced to the adopter of this piece about a month ago when he wanted to adopt a work of mine that was promised to someone else. Learning that M. Ringland was a fellow FAAN artist, I had the opportunity to see some of his drawings and ultimately adopt one.

Feeling uneasy that this transaction was not reciprocal (although a rich exchange of ideas through e-mail was), I posted more work on FAAN hoping that M. Ringland would see something he would want to adopt which, much to my pleasure, he did. When "Verticle Shape with Green and Pink" arrived at its destination, I received an e-mail which contained (in part) the following:

"It looks great . . . when I painstakingly opened the package, the painting was a real thing. I loved the way it felt in my hands even though it will be mounted on a wall, it felt like something meant to be in hands. The colors very vibrant, very much alive. And your hand clear to see. It felt to me as if I was looking down at a section of the Nile. I really get a sense of movement, both small and great, of things moved from elsewhere, of transiency. I blink and it is a formal arrangement of color. Its a great piece. I am going to enjoy looking at it for many years. Thanks very, very much."

And I replied:

"Thank you. Your words make me happy.

And now we each have something the other has made by hand and have communicated about it through the wonder and mystery of electronics. A most pleasant experience."

And that tells whoever is reading this, something of the interaction and exchange of work FAAN has made possible between artists.

This artwork has been adopted.
