This photograph comes from my archive project entitled "Evans Pond: A Long-Term Study of a Single Place." I've been revisiting the site, a suburban greenspace located in New Jersey, since 1997. I use variety of old and new photographic technologies and print techniques.

Evans Pond, Abandoned Orchard
artist: Deborah Garwood

The artist, Deborah Garwood, writes:

The adopter, c., is also an artist. She grew up in rural New York State. My photograph reminded her of vanished landscapes where she rode horses as a young girl. I was intrigued by her beautiful paintings of fallen horses.
This orchard - what was left of it - was cut down last June. As of July, 2006, it's a sand pit awaiting construction.

This artwork has been adopted.
