The Missings were a series of small oil paintings on board that I made off and on through much of the 1980s. I have included a view of a grid of Missings exhibited at the New Jersey State Museum in 1990. They were made in response to the Missing Children campaign which still exists but was more pervasive in the early 1980s. The word 'Missing' was cut from paper grocery bags that were part of the campaign. I made something very simple, three brush strokes, representing something very complicated.
