This photograph was taken while I was visiting Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, where I was doing research on the more scientific aspects of my Observando El Cielo body of work. I have shot at several observatories and have made quite a bit of astro-photograpahy, including my 16mm film of celestial field recordings. But as The Griffith Observatory was the setting for several scenes in the movie Rebel Without a Cause, the city has erected this monument to James Dean there, across from the monument to Isaac Newton etc. It is Hollywood after all, and James Dean is a star that shines in that sky...
