I see space as filled with possibilities, which we can't fully comprehend through the limitations of our physical senses. But, when our senses encounter objects within space we are then able to conceptualization things like dimension, distance, form and structure. In this sense, I believe, objects bring to the surface aspects of space, which are hidden from our sensory perception. By using subtle lines of wire I map and explore the spatial realities of these underlying properties.
I have also become very interested in how a common visual language of small dots and lines arraigned in different patterns represent complex sets of information (musical notation, architectural diagrams, words, mechanical schematics, data visualizations, math equations...etc.). These specific visual elements (points, lines and planes) organized differently seems to activate a unique cognitive process in people. This process has the quality of simultaneously being both highly analytical and steeped in abstraction. I believe these elements have deep implications concerning how we perceive and process our visual reality.
