Being a self-taught artist has forced me to discover myself and has provided a challenge to discover a new language to communicate my ideas to a wide range of art patron. The struggles and achievements of African American men and women inspire my art. I translate these images of hope and despair with mixed media on paper and canvas.

My work does not have one specific, clearly defined direction but moves freely between representation, abstract and narrative. I prefer not to be limited to one particular style but often create a series of work in a distinct technique. My brushstrokes are sometimes controlled and sometimes random. I use both intense and subdued coloration. The images are abstract and narrative. I use a wide variety of materials, which include oil, acrylic, ink and latex paint. My imagery is intended to be both personal and universal.

My current series is a collection of oil paintings that focuses on isolation and man’s need to adapt to constant change. I use cubism to illustrate these ideas. The sky and ground are divided in sections to illustrate unstable ground and unpredictable weather. Other symbolism are used in these paintings to evoke the viewer to question his existence and purpose for living.

My other series include a found-object collage series, a series of blue abstract nudes, an abstract series, a jazz silhouette abstract series and a series of contemporary high-society black women.
