AT Free Space
Part of my practice as an artist involves working with other artists. I create social spaces, networks, and organize salons. The folks at FAAN allowed me to add a page. (I also have works available for adoption under Austin Thomas. But here, I am curated a page of the artists I have met through my social practice.
This was a curatorial experiment. I presented four artists from Santa Barbara, California, and their art work. I met these artists while doing a project at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum. The project was a social sculpture which included an ongoing salon with local artists. I continued the salon here, and introduced Laura Devendorf, Graham Bury, Danielle Rubi, Warren Schultheis, Calico Brown, and Jenn Figg.
After experimenting here on FAAN, I opened a salon space in Brooklyn called Pocket Utopia. In January 2008 we mounted an exhibition that featured 12 off of the FAAN site. There is a new show every month. Danielle Rubi is up now, March 2008.
