Part of a series of ink and acrylic paintings on Claybord, in which I combine abstract and representation elements. In most of these, including this one, the human body, or parts thereof, plays a major role.

I was immediatley drawn to this artwork even before I realized that I "knew " Carol . It is small, organic and edgy at the same time. I decided to display it in my studio where I can see it as I work. It looks great there.
Thanks Carol

The artist, Carol Radsprecher, writes:

Gwenn Mayers knew of some paintings of mine that had been in a self-portrait show at gallery where she is the head curator. She just saw Huddled Mass on FAAN and wrote me what of course turned out to be a winning letter (realizing she and I had this prior connection also helped). Right after I wrote to her and told her the work was hers, another person e-mailed me through FAAN and was interested in the piece. It feels wonderful to be so wanted (albeit with free work)! I like knowing that my work will travel and be part of someone else's environment--especially, in this case, someone with a prior connection to me (we both graduated from Hunter College's MFA program, although we went at different times).
